Columbus Engine, Medic and Rescue 4 with Engine and Battalion 181 and
Chief 182 responded to a motor vehicle accident in front
of 4465 S. Hamilton Rd. The accident was in the
intersection.
M4 and Battalion
181 arrived simultaneously and set up a safe zone.
Vehicle heading southbound on SR 317 “T-boning” eastbound
vehicle coming out from Directors Blvd. Driver 2 was
unrestrained and had airbag deployment. Driver 2 was
pinned in vehicle.
M4 checked with the
driver that was “T boned” due to the fact that he was
still in the vehicle. Battalion 181 checked for other
victims. M4 confirmed that they had a working
extrication. Battalion 181 announced the working
extrication over 8 Delta.
This brought the
response of E181 who was next door on a medical run and
Chief 182 from quarters.
A larger perimeter
was put in place in both the north and south bound lanes
of S. Hamilton Rd. AKA State Route 317 to ensure crew
and scene safety.
E4 pulled and
charged a hand line as the Rescue extricated the
patient. Extrication was complete in about 20 minutes.
The victim was
placed in full C-spine, with IV’s and transported to
Grant Hospital by M4.
The driver of the
second vehicle walked away with minor injuries and
refused transportation.
