On April 27th, around 4pm, Medic 182 was
dispatched along with Battalion 181 on a mutual aid run to Violet
Township on an Auto Accident on Rte. 33 eastbound, east of Hill Road.
The first arriving companies discovered the occupant trapped in his
vehicle with serious injuries so they called for the MedFlight
helicopter to respond. Madison Township Engine 182 then responded to
assist with the rescue and Greenfield Township Engine 561 responded
to set up a landing zone for the helicopter.
MedFlight arrived on the scene about 12 minutes later as the victim
was being removed from the automobile and transported him to Grant
Medical Center. Eastbound traffic was completely blocked for the
duration of the rescue but was quickly opened up again once
MedFlight took off and the wrecker driver cleared the road of
debris.
