Engine 182 and
several Fairfield County departments responded with Bloom
Township while severe storms went through the area, on a
possible lightning strike. First arriving companies found heavy
fire coming through the roof in the rear of this two story
residence. This was a ten minute run for Engine 182 to rural
Fairfield County. Upon our arrival dump tank ops had already
been established and the fire was being attacked with three (3)
hand lines from Bloom’s Engine 551 equipped with a Compressed
Air Foam System or CAFS.
You may notice a lot of white or what looks like snow in the
pictures and that is the result of the foam. This system did an
excellent job extinguishing the fire and extending the
effectiveness of the limited water supply. Damage was
limited to the second floor and roof.
