At approx 1540
hours E182 along with E181, E591, L32, L23, R4, M182,
B181, B6 were dispatched on a structure fire that had
multiple calls. As E182 and B181 came up over the hill
at 33 and Gender we could see a large column of black
smoke and B181 relayed this information to the FAO who
in turn dispatched the RIC companies. E182 was the
first to arrive on the scene to find a 2 story
residential wood frame structure with visible fire in
the garage, second floor bedroom, and through the roof.
This fire also had breached the east wall of the garage
and had ignited the house to the east. E182 extended a 2
1/2" line between the houses to immediately attack the
extension to the second home and also stretched a 1 3/4"
line to blacken down the garage. An off duty MTFD
firefighter was on the scene and advised us that the
fire home and exposure home had an "All Clear". M182
arrived next and the crew from the medic extended a 3rd
line and advanced it into the fire structure to make an
interior attack. As companies arrived crews were
assigned to attack and overhaul the exposure structure
and assist with extinguishment and overhaul of the fire
structure. In all, the fire was contained within 30
minutes with overhaul of both structures taking about 2
1/2 hours. No one was injured and the family dog was
rescued from the fire structure.
