Gary York is a career law enforcement professional from the Central Ohio area. He is retired from the Groveport Police Department where he proudly served for the past 30 years. Gary’s law enforcement experience ranges from Patrol, Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Chief of Police.

Gary is a 1983 graduate of the Groveport Madison High School. Gary graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor of Criminal Justice and received his Masters of Science in Public Administration from Central Michigan University. In addition, Gary graduated from the 223rd session of the FBI National Academy, an accomplishment held by less than one percent of U.S. law enforcement. Gary also completed the 180th session of Northwestern University School of Police Staff & Command and the 20th session of the Police Executive Leadership College.

Having served as an adjunct professor and basic academy instructor at local colleges such as Central Ohio Technical, Daymar, Eastland-Fairfield Adult Education, Hocking, and Ohio University, Gary has been a part of teaching law enforcement professionals throughout Central Ohio.

A believer that solving community problems and issues cannot be accomplished alone, Gary has a strong passion in community service and has developed a philosophy that simply states; “Community Service...Together we can make a difference”.
